The Sicilia Foundation launches the "Rosalia400" project on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the remains of Santa Rosalia, Patroness of Palermo. With the artistic direction of Laura Barreca and the support of the European Changes project, the project promotes participatory and inclusive initiatives, sustainable tourism strategies and the valorization of cultural heritage.
Exhibition: The Chariot, the Feast, the Saint The exhibition explores the complex history linked to Santa Rosalia and the Feast dedicated to her, highlighting the social, cultural and historical context that has generated profound popular affection over the centuries. Through photographs, historical posters, and works of art, the exhibition offers a comprehensive perspective on this tradition.
Art Installation: “Viva Palermo” by Domenico Pellegrino The work explores themes of rebirth and resilience inspired by Santa Rosalia, using iconic elements of Palermo and the traditional technique of illuminations to create an immersive experience.
Educational Collaboration with the “Karol Wojtyla/Arenella” Comprehensive Institute The students and teaching staff of the Institute work in collaboration with artists and will be protagonists of meetings, visits and public occasions during the exhibition, promoting the artistic and educational value of the Opera.
Other Attractions: Film, Puppet Theater, Sound Installation Various artistic and cultural works, including a musical film by Costanza Quatriglio and a puppet theater show on the history of Santa Rosalia, enrich the experience of the exhibition.
